Sadly another cheer season is coming to an end. Even though
this cheer season hasn’t been one of the best I have to say I enjoyed the
people I cheered with. I made more freshman friends… what’s new. It seemed in
the beginning of the season just after tryouts we were going to have an amazing
season. We were starting very difficult stunts with flips and tic tocks the
very first day of practice. We had our pyramid down solid within the first 2
weeks into the season. Then from their it just seemed everything started to go
slightly downhill. We magically went from 21 girls to 14 girls. Unfortunately we
had girls quit. The thing that made it worse was that they just didn’t quit at
once in the beginning of the season. It was throughout the entire season. Our
team was also hurt by two girls getting injured and couldn’t end up cheering
for the rest of the season. That was a real bummer right there. It was our only
tumbler and our main flyer, Emma. So that kind of shot the team down a lot.
Especially that her injury happened after Alyssia’s concussion happened. This
season didn’t only bring in new cheerleaders but a new cheer coach as well. I
feel that not a lot of the girls liked our new coach at first because she was
VERY strict on us literally from day one of tryouts. After all the ups and
downs of this season our team pulled together, thankfully, for ECIC Competition
last Sunday at Orchard Park High School. We were competing up 8 other very
talented squads. Even though we didn’t place in the top 3 our scores overall weren’t
too bad, for knowing what we have been through. A week before competition we
went to Rylie’s house for team bonding. Of course ate mounds of food just to
get fat. Haha. It was a much team bonding session, we basically vented about
all our frustrations from this season. We have one more competition left this
season, Cheer For The Cure in Niagara Falls. Hopefully that competition goes a
little bit better than ECIC.
