Q4. Icon, Kendall Jenner

I don’t have a favorite cultural icon, but I do have someone that I admire. Everybody always makes fun of their family because the kids are famous for no reason. I don’t really admire the older girls as much as the younger ones. The reason why I look up to the Jenner Girls is because of their personalities. I obviously don’t know them personally but I do watch their their reality show on E network. I really look up to Kendall because we are closer in age and I feel like I can relate to her more than the other girls. I do realize that reality shows are more staged than being their normal selves but just reading their interviews and articles in magazines express themselves. The reason why I look up to her so much is because she is a giving person, rather than always wanting to receive it. I remember watching an episode where her and her sister, Kylie, and their father, Bruce, took both of them to a homeless shelter to see the kind of lives they live. Both of the girls didn’t want to go because they had plans with their friends, but at the end they both told the media that they were really glad they went and just to know that they brightened up their day made them only feel better too. What exactly take a person to be iconic? I really think that anyone can be iconic to anyone. People just look up to people in different ways. I feel that a person makes a good icon by the choices they make. That’s why I look up to Kendall, because of several reasons. Kendall knew that school comes over her work any day. That’s is exactly why she persuaded her parent to let her be home schooled rather than attend a public school because she was unable to attend school due to her hectic schedule. With her schedule she kept missing more and more school and it made them both upset.

Q3. English Book

Even though I really don’t like to read there were actually a few books I liked. In English this year we read a play, “The Crucible” and a novel, “The Catcher in the Rye.” Those were my two favorites that we read this year in English 11. Also last year in English one of my favorite books we read as a class was “The Book Thief.” If I had to choose out of those three books I would have to say that reading “The Crucible” was my favorite to read for various reasons. First off Mr. Currin made us act the whole play out and it was hilarious. I think my favorite acting part out of the whole play was when Lauren jumped out the window and ran away. Also Zach Miner played a main role in the play and he got “fired” from his job because he was talking in a weird funny accent. Basically he was acting like him typical self. I also liked how everyone had the chance to act a part in the play, whether it was from a small character to a main role in the play. It was really funny to see everyone try to act out parts in front of the whole class. Everyone would get a good laugh out of it. The only thing I didn’t like about the play was the test we took after it. I completely bombed that test.  Lastly I also liked reading “The Catcher in the Rye” because once again Mr. Currin made us interact with the book. That novel was really easy to understand, and I like books that are easy to understand. Lastly I also liked last year was The Book Thief. The novel was very educational. It was about the Holocaust. Although I found it very hard to understand at times. But that’s just because I don’t really comprehend reading that well.

Q2. Summer

School is quickly coming to another end and we all know what that means summer!! The time of the year everyone loves. I have many plans for this summer.  It is going to be the best summer yet. I basically already have my whole summer played out. I plan on working a tremendous amount of time. I work about 14 hours a week just when school is in session, so I am hoping when summer starts I get at least 20 hours if not more. Although it’s going to be hard working that much with cheerleading starting soon. Also this summer I am going on a road trip to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with my friends. We’re going the Fourth of July weekend to see Taylor Swift’s Red Tour. We are all going with my one friend’s family, and I’m pretty positive they are going to hate us by the end of the trip. We 3 girls always cause trouble when we are together. More than likely we are going to destroy our hotel room. I am super excited to go to Pittsburgh especially because I’ve never been there before. Then only one week later I’m going to another concert, Justin Bieber.  My one sister, Amber bought my ticket for my birthday and we are also taking my oldest sister, Michelle. Words can’t even explain how happy I am for this concert! I also pan on going to the beach like every possible day I get the chance to. A major thing I need to focus on this summer is attending college visits. This is why this summer is extremely important. Lastly this summer I’m going to spend a lot of time with my friends and family! Every summer we have a fourth of July party with our whole family and close family friends.

P5. Partners In Crime

If there were 2 people in this world I couldn’t live without besides my parents of course it would be my two favorite girls in this world, Lauren and Delaney. They are the only 2 people I know I can trust completely out of all my friends. We are always here for each other no matter what hour of the day it is. I have known Lauren ever since summer league basketball when we were going into 9th grade. I was actually one of her first friends she knew before we started school. Lauren and I share probably the best memories out of all my friends I have. We can laugh with each other or cry to each other. She especially knows how to help me with my boy troubles, which is always a plus. I feel like we can read each other by our emotions. I would also have to say that Delaney is one of my closest friends. She is my partner in crime. It feels like we’ve known each other our whole life but we haven’t known each other for a complete year yet. We met over the summer when we both made the cheerleading team. I have not had one friend like her, she is something else let me tell you. She is definitely not the same person she is in school. When you hang outside of school with her she is crazy full with energy but not in a little kid way. She is probably the happiest person standing on this earth. When we are together we’re always up to no good. We like to cause a lot of trouble which is actually kind of fun I think. Delaney is the only person that knows my deepest darkest secret, that’s how much I trust her. I don’t think there is a day that passes that I don’t say at least one word to each other. I will never forget the one time we were just texting about random pointless stuff, and I told her I was thirsty but too lazy to get out of bed to get some water. Let me remind you that it’s around 10 pm at night on a school night. She asked me what kind of water I liked, lemon or lime. I told her lemon. Next thing I know it’s about 10:30 pm when I hear a random knock on my window. Take a guess who it was, Delaney. She drove all the way to my house just to get me a bottle of water and she lives 10 minutes driving from me. Now that is a true real friend. We talk about everything from goofy giggly stuff to boys to deep personal issue. I couldn’t ask for better friends in my life than them!

P4. My First Job

About 3 weeks ago I started my first real job. I work Jeanettie’s, an ice cream place just down the road from where I live. I usually work with one other person so there are two of us working at a time. I am still technically training because I haven’t started working alone just quite yet. But I basically know everything there is to know. My first few days working there was a little overwhelming just because I was learning everything. I mean there are still a few things that I don’t know how to make yet only because no one has ordered it yet. Going into my third week I felt a lot more confident with my job now, and I am starting to show it too. Usually I work either 3 or 4 hours which isn’t too bad with school right now. I am hoping over the summer I receive more hours. Also that’s what my parents asked for was to work a few days out of the week. I usually work about 12 hours a week. One thing I like about my job is that pay day is on Wednesday which is right in the middle of the week. My first day of work I went into the job thinking it was going to be extremely hard learning how to make everything and by the third or fourth day I basically knew how to do everything. This job is really easy. All it is basically is just a lot of cleaning, which I don’t mind because that’s super easy! When we close up at 9pm we have an entire of list of things we need to clean and wash out. For example we have to clean the floors and tables and all the ice cream machines and utensils. So far I love my first job!

P3. Ms. Chrzanowski

Ms. Chrzanowski was a phenomenal student teacher. I think having her student teach for Mr. Currin was really the best choice there was. They both have the same teaching style. I like how they both put humor and fun into their class. Ms. Chrzanowski was super nice and funny. It has only been one day since she has left and I already miss her! There were points when she was teaching and I wish Mr. Currin was teaching because the students would start to walk over her. For example when we would be taking a test and students would start talking and it became a distraction for others all she would do is tell them to be quiet and started to talk to them too. I don’t know but that just causes a distraction for me. I really think in the future when she gets a teaching job she is going to be a really good teacher. I kind of hope she substitutes here at our school sometime! I think high school is a really good setting for her to work with. An ideal teacher is organized and has a hard work ethic. She was also prepared for class to start and would tell the class immediately to be seated when the bell rang. She has a lot of knowledge of English. Also an ideal teacher isn’t too strict but not too lenient on their students. Every student likes the teachers where they are easy going but also get their work done at the same time. Some advice I would give a person heading into the field of education is to stay dedicated to their goals. Also put hard work in into their studying. Ms. Chrzanowski truly showed all these characteristics very well. She is going to be that teacher everyone wants to have in English Class.
