For my choice blog this week I’m going to write about my
grandmother. My grandmother was a very loving person and always brought warm
smiles to the room. She was very well
known for her spaghetti and homemade meatballs. When she lived back in
Lancaster year ago she owned a business with her sister in law called Brownies
at Broadway and Woodlawn. I still remember when I was really little and I would
always spend the night and my grandparents’ house. Grandma loved to garden,
camp, babysit and just cherish the time with her wonderful family. We would
always play Go Fish for hours and watch movies. There were those some nights
for some odd reason I would cry and want to go home to my parents. After I grew
up my grandma and I stopped having our little sleepovers because of her medical
issues. Unfortunately last Monday the 29th of 2012, I received a phone call at
about 9:15 from my dad. I knew that my grandma wasn’t to doing too well in the
nursing home with all her medical issues. I just had a feeling that my phone
call from my dad wasn’t going to be so good. Unfortunately it was not the news
I wanted to hear. That was the moment
when I found out that she had sadly passed away. Tears just instantly started
running down my face. My sister had to come pick me up from school and go home
to my family. It was the hardest to see my dad. Honestly when I saw him break
down it just made me more depressed, because I have never seen my father like
that. This was the first death I have experienced in my life. Even though it’s
a miserable moment in life, I know she is in a much better place right now
without pain. I will never forget the warm smiles and joy she would bring to
her nurses and to everyone at the nursing home. Grandma I know I am not able to
see right now, but I just wanted to say my last words, I love you<3 you are
forever in my heart!
