O5. Writing Process

I feel like this class has helped me with my writing a little. We have to write an article for the student newspaper every 2 weeks. After a while it gets frustrating trying to pick an article idea. I have really no specific way to choosing a topic. I just think of what kind of activities are going around town and in the school, and if there isn’t really anything them I am sort of out of luck. But most of the time there is something going on which is good. My favorite topic to write about this year so far is the teacher feature. It really gives the reader an opportunity to really learn about the teachers around our school. When I did my teacher future on Mr. Kern I had to brainstorm a series of questions to ask him. Then I interviewed him and wrote an article about him. The articles have to contain a minimum of 300 words no less. After you’ve written your article, you have to have your assigned editor edit your paper. If you don’t have to make any changes you then submit it to the correct volume and issue for the paper. They key to get people to read your article is to have a good unique article title. That is one thing I am not too well at. Personally I think that Online Publishing will help me with my writing technique. I’m starting to use a wider range of vocabulary when I write. Also if I need to research information about my topic I try to use news related sources for correct data. I also like to try to get different people’s opinions that aren’t all in the same age group. After this class is over I really think it will help my writing process.
