D4. cheerleading

For my choice blog, I am going to write about cheerleading. I have been involved in cheerleading for 7 years, but honestly it doesn’t even feel like it has been that long. I joined cheerleading when I was in the 6th grade. I started off cheering for the town, AJFC. Ever since the day I joined cheerleading I loved it. There was just something about cheering for the town that didn’t enthuse me as much as high school cheerleading. Entering my freshman year in high school I was a little intimidated to try out for the JV team. Knowing that I was rookie going to be on the team and seeing all the veterans come back got to me a little bit. Not only do I cheer for football season but I cheer for basketball as well. I don’t like cheering for basketball as much as I do for football. Football season is just more exciting than basketball season. We always do stuff for our football team, like make back goods, banners, decorate the town etc. My sophomore year trying out for basketball season I tried out for the varsity team. Unfortunately I was 3 points shy of making the team. At first I was a little upset but I knew I could only get better and stay strong and not to let it bring me down. Outside of high school I did participate in a 6 week all-star team at Sub Zero.  Participating in that team was a great experience for me. It taught me some more key pointers of cheerleading. I would have to say the main reason I do cheer is because of competition season. I just absolutely love going out on the competition mat and pour my heart into the routine.  No matter how our team does place in the top 3 or not, I know were still number 1 our hearts.

D2. English with Mr. Currin

My favorite class by far this year would have to be English. I have never had much interest in English class because I really don’t enjoy reading and plus it is hard for me to comprehend. But as of this year I have changed my view on the class itself. Every day I really look forward to step foot into his class. In the matter of minutes it could just turn my whole day and mood around. The class is filled with great people, and I mostly talk to everyone in there, and just to make the class better I have English with Mr. Currin. You can just feel the love in the class room and how everybody gets along. I love how we have a lot of fun but yet still manage to get work done. Right now in English we are currently reading and acting out The Crucible. I like acting the play out because it makes me understand easier on what is going on in the play. Also our class isn’t bad at acting we actually get really into it. My favorite part of the play so far is when Lauren jumped out the window and ran away from the school, then after Marisa had to go run after her. The thing that makes it the funniest is that Mr. Currin wasn’t expecting them to jump out the window. So far in English we have a read a couple short stories and practices short answer responses and wrote a couple paragraphs.  Also we took a one day break from reading The Crucible and worked on poetry. We had to find two poems that we enjoyed reading and then we had to write two of our own poems. I am honestly looking forward to spending the rest of my English year in room 110.

D1. A Teacher That Impacted Me In A Positive Way

Throughout my life I’ve had many teachers and/or coaches that have impacted me positively. This certain teacher made a positive impact on my life. I may have only had this teacher for a half of year, but I would have to say it was the best half of a year of my life. He’s the one person that taught me to open up myself to other people, be myself, and not to be so shy. Every time I stepped foot into his room I felt a warm welcome into Health Class, with Mr. Casillo. Mr. Casillo is a very well rounded guy. He’s always standing outside of his room and says hey to people that walk by that he doesn’t even teach. He is probably one of the coolest teachers I’ve had yet in High School.  I still remember freshman year every day I left school he would always say bye to me and he didn’t even know who I was yet. I like how in his class he lets you open up to him about anything. Even if you didn’t feel comfortable talking about something in front of the whole class, he would take the opportunity to talk one on one with you. Every class he would take about 10 minutes to just talk about anything. It may have taken me a couple weeks to open in front of the whole class. We would do a lot of group activities and present to the whole class. I feel like standing up in front of the whole class presenting with two or more people made me feel a little bit more confident with myself. Mr. Casillo is also a motivating teacher. Just by the way he expresses his words is truly motivating to me. He will tell you to not let anyone come in your way of doing something that you want to do. Just don’t be someone you’re not, be yourself.
