Throughout my life I’ve had many teachers and/or coaches
that have impacted me positively. This certain teacher made a positive impact
on my life. I may have only had this teacher for a half of year, but I would
have to say it was the best half of a year of my life. He’s the one person that
taught me to open up myself to other people, be myself, and not to be so shy.
Every time I stepped foot into his room I felt a warm welcome into Health Class,
with Mr. Casillo. Mr. Casillo is a very well rounded guy. He’s always standing
outside of his room and says hey to people that walk by that he doesn’t even
teach. He is probably one of the coolest teachers I’ve had yet in High School. I still remember freshman year every day I left
school he would always say bye to me and he didn’t even know who I was yet. I
like how in his class he lets you open up to him about anything. Even if you didn’t
feel comfortable talking about something in front of the whole class, he would
take the opportunity to talk one on one with you. Every class he would take
about 10 minutes to just talk about anything. It may have taken me a couple
weeks to open in front of the whole class. We would do a lot of group
activities and present to the whole class. I feel like standing up in front of
the whole class presenting with two or more people made me feel a little bit
more confident with myself. Mr. Casillo is also a motivating teacher. Just by
the way he expresses his words is truly motivating to me. He will tell you to
not let anyone come in your way of doing something that you want to do. Just don’t
be someone you’re not, be yourself.
I really enjoyed having Mr. Casillo as a teacher! That's why I did a Teacher Feature on him!
