For my choice blog, I am going to write about cheerleading.
I have been involved in cheerleading for 7 years, but honestly it doesn’t even
feel like it has been that long. I joined cheerleading when I was in the 6th
grade. I started off cheering for the town, AJFC. Ever since the day I joined
cheerleading I loved it. There was just something about cheering for the town
that didn’t enthuse me as much as high school cheerleading. Entering my
freshman year in high school I was a little intimidated to try out for the JV
team. Knowing that I was rookie going to be on the team and seeing all the
veterans come back got to me a little bit. Not only do I cheer for football
season but I cheer for basketball as well. I don’t like cheering for basketball
as much as I do for football. Football season is just more exciting than
basketball season. We always do stuff for our football team, like make back
goods, banners, decorate the town etc. My sophomore year trying out for
basketball season I tried out for the varsity team. Unfortunately I was 3
points shy of making the team. At first I was a little upset but I knew I could
only get better and stay strong and not to let it bring me down. Outside of high
school I did participate in a 6 week all-star team at Sub Zero. Participating in that team was a great
experience for me. It taught me some more key pointers of cheerleading. I would
have to say the main reason I do cheer is because of competition season. I just
absolutely love going out on the competition mat and pour my heart into the
routine. No matter how our team does
place in the top 3 or not, I know were still number 1 our hearts.
